IMPORTANT
Return of the motor and
carriage assembly is intended
to and will permanently
disable your saw so that it
can never be used again.
BOTH the MOTOR AND CARRIAGE
MUST be returned to receive
the $100.00 check. Examples of the
motor and carriage assemblies
appear below.
All returns are final.
The motor and carriage
will be destroyed upon receipt.
PLEASE be aware that it may take 4-6 weeks for receipt of check.

Removal
9-inch and 10-inch Radial Arm Saws
Removing the Guard and Blade
1. Unplug saw from power source and remove switch key.
2. Pull carriage/motor assembly near front of arm and lock carriage lock (rip lock).
3. Remove blade guard. Figure 1
a) Depending on your saw, there is either a wing
nut on top of the motor or a thumb screw
extending from the front, right side of the guard.
b) Remove the wing nut, or loosen the thumb
screw 3 to 4 turns, and lift guard off motor.

4. Remove blade and blade washers Figure 2
a) Two wrenches are required, one for the shaft
and one for the arbor nut.
b) Hold the shaft wrench firmly in place while
pulling the arbor nut wrench toward you
(thread is left handed).
c) Once nut is loosened, remove nut, outer
flange washer, blade, and inner flange
washer. Discard the blade guard, nut, and
flange washer. Do not return these parts
with your saw’s carriage/motor assembly.

Removing the Arm Trim
NOTE: Some 10-inch models do not require the removal of the arm trim
(see illustration) Figure 3
1. Cut the power cord somewhere near the carriage/motor assembly and
cut off plug from end of power cord. Discard plug and cord.
2. Remove front trim panel (and knob, on some models) as shown. Figure 4
 
Removing Carriage/Motor Assembly
NOTE: For models where trim was not removed proceed to "No Trim
Removal" section.
Models Where Trim Was Removed
1. Remove carriage stop screw located on the
underside and near the front of the arm. Figure 5

2. Loosen the carriage lock and carefully
pull carriage/motor assembly toward front of
arm until bearings are off of track. Figure 6

No Trim Removal - Figure 7
1. Position carriage so all six carriage track screws can be accessed. Lock the carriage lock (rip lock).
2. Remove the front four screws that attach the carriage track to the arm.
3. Slowly loosen the rear two screws until front of
carriage track drops down below front panel of
arm. Loosen the carriage lock knob and carefully
pull carriage/motor assembly toward front of
arm until bearings come off the track.

8-inch and 8-1/4-inch Radial Arm Saws
Removing the Blade and Blade Washers
1. Unplug saw from power source and remove switch key.
2. Pull carriage near front of arm and lock carriage lock (rip lock). Figure A
3. Using two wrenches or one wrench and a block of wood to keep the blade
from turning, loosen the blade screw or nut (thread is left-handed).
4. Once screw or nut is loosened, remove screw or nut, outer flange washer,
blade and inner flange washer.
5. Discard the blade, screw or nut, and flange washer. Do not return
these parts with your saw's carriage/motor assembly.

Removing the Arm Trim and Stop Screw Figure B
1. Cut the power cord somewhere near the carriage/motor assembly and
cut off plug from end of power cord. Discard plug and cord.
2. Remove trim panel as shown. (8 ¼” saws)
3. Remove carriage stop screw located near
the front of the arm.

Removing Carriage/Motor Assembly
Loosen the carriage lock (rip lock) and carefully
pull carriage/motor assembly toward front of arm
until bearings come off the track. Figure C

Packing Instructions
1. Fold flaps on box bottom and secure with one strip of
tape (provided).
2. Place Motor and Carriage Assembly inside box and fill
extra space with tightly wadded newspaper or
similar packing material.
3. Fold flaps on box top and seal with second strip of tape.
4. Place the two labels (1) FedEx (Barcode) Label on the bottom half of the address label and (2) RAS Recall Label (Name/Claim #) on the upper half of the address Label–covering the original mailing label; by doing this we can process your request more efficiently. PLEASE DO NOT PLACE ANY TAPE OVER THE BARCODE.
5. Drop off at any Federal Express Location.
